GLOBALLY With the International Confederation of Midwives, we produced a film celebrating the vital role of midwives around the world. The film – A Midwife Like Me – shows how dedicated and skilled midwives can help women have the best experience before, during and after child birth, encouraging them to make their own informed decisions around normal birth practice.
ETHIOPIA, ZIMBABWE AND INDIA We produced a training film for King’s College London’s ground breaking CRADLE VSA device, a cheap, robust and reusable life saving tool that detects warning signs in pregnancy. Our film shows how to check blood pressure and heart rate using the CRADLE VSA and also outlines the first steps to take if there is an abnormality in these readings.The device is currently on trial in Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and India.
IMG_0017SOUTH AFRICA With the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, we are producing films about counselling skills for family planning and comprehensive abortion care. These will be used as part of a major new programme to train health workers and improve reproductive healthcare in South Africa & Tanzania.
ZAMBIA With Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust’s health partnership with Ndola Central Hospital in Zambia, we are producing films about handwashing, hygiene and the surgical checklist. These will be used to support vital health worker training and community education in the Ndola region of Zambia.
ZIMBABWE With Econet Wireless, we are creating mobile-optimized films about prevention, diagnosis and screening of malaria. These will be freely available, with no data charges, for use on mobile phones by Village Health Workers and community members across Zimbabwe.
ondoNIGERIA With InStrat Global Health Solutions, mPowering Frontline Healthworkers and Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Board, we are adapting films for a new tablet-based maternal and child health training curriculum in Ondo State, Nigeria. This will be delivered in health facilities across the region, strengthening training for facility-based health workers.
