London Marathon
I've done it for MAF
In one of the hottest London Marathon's on record, I completed the 26.2 mile course in a personal best of 4:58:36. It's not hard to reach a personal best when it's a first, but that's beside the point. Although this was not the time I was aiming for, it still feels like quite an achievement. The endorphin's kicked in at unprecedented levels - not sure I will be able to replicate the same feeling without running another one. The buzz and energy of the million spectators supporting us was an experience I shall never forget, unlike the aches in my quads and knee that I am sure will become a fading memory. Thanks to everyone for your support - from near and far. Your positive words, humour and sarcasm were much appreciated. Your generous contributions will make a big difference to Medical Aid Films (MAF), a charity that produces training materials for health care professionals delivering babies in East Africa. MAF have already had an impact by reducing mortality and morbidity rates in women and children by over 400%, and they continue to strive to reduce these numbers through education and more training.
