“Cameras without borders”: an evening of medical films at Goldman Sachs, London

On Wednesday 2nd March 2011, the Goldman Sachs Asian Professional Network (APN) invited Medical Aid Films to present the charity’s aims and projects to its members in London.

The event was made possible thanks to the Community TeamWorks (CTW) day that Goldman Sachs (GS) employees spent at Medical Aid Films during summer 2010.

The CTW was led by GS partner Michael de Lathauwer, also a trustee of Medical Aid Films, and has resulted in various GS employees generously donating their time and efforts to help MAF in various ways, the latest of which is this particular event which was pioneered by GS’ Mizan Rahman.

On the night, Michael joined forces with the film director Gurinder Chadha, MAF patron, Dr Natalie Greenwold, MAF co-founder and Dr Nadeem Hasan, MAF supporter, to share with the APN MAF’s forthcoming projects and plans. This included information on the upcoming training course for doctors and rural health workers to be run in Hyderabad, India, in November 2011.

An interactive Q&A session was also held and facilitated by GS’ Steve Cracknell. This enabled Gurinder to highlight how powerful film can be as a medium for teaching and educating individuals on social and health issues due to its ability to build emotional connections with the audience.

The MAF team would like to thank the Goldman Sachs Asian Professional Network and MAF volunteer Viviana Amoretti for organising this very successful event with such a level of professionalism and dedication.
