"I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn't learn something from him".
Galileo Galilei, (1564-1642)
"Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher."
(Japanese proverb)
When one of our founders, Fiona return from Darfur she told us than one her greatest frustration as an NGOs health care worker was that there was little teaching material to pass on her midwifery skills to traditional birth attendants (TBAs). One day she arranged a training session for TBAs and almost a thousand turned up. During her stay in Darfur, Fiona had daily access to the internet and could use her lap top to watch DVDs. Her experience has been a constant inspiration for the MAF team and has stimulated us to produce our first film and animation (click link to Neema delivers a baby animation). Like our subsequent productions, it is based on local experience by NGOs and local heath care professionals (login).

What works in one situation may not in another, so we have to be sure that our materials fit the circumstances in which they are to be used. We need you help to know better about the specific health care issues in your areas and how they are addressed. Your ideas and tricks may save lives in other parts of the world, share them on our platform (login).
In December 2008, David Nott, a British surgeon working for MSF in northern Congo amputated the arm of a wounded local teenager with help from instructions sent to him by text message from a colleague, Prof M Thomas on holiday in the Azores (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7761994.stm). Mr Nott, originally from London, had never performed the operation but followed instructions received on his mobile phone. The operation was a success and the 16-year-old patient made a good recovery.
