Films we need to make - can you help?

We are focusing on getting films made which we believe are going to have the biggest impact on maternal and child mortality numbers. By contributing to the costs of making a film or becoming a sponsor you will be making a big difference to the health of many poor people in developing countries. Thank you.
Resuscitating a baby

We know that approximately 800,000 thousand babies each year die before taking a breath. Birth asphyxia has been identified by the World Health Organisation as the most frequent cause of early deaths worldwide, accounting for about 20% of neonatal mortality. 99% of these deaths occur in developing countries. Although prompt resuscitation after birth can prevent many of the deaths and reduce disabilities, resuscitation is often not initiated or the methods used are inadequate or wrong. Our animation will show how birth attendants can successfully resuscitate a baby using internationally approved techniques suitable for use in developing countries.

How to build a training lab

Training facilities for medical staff, particularly at the lowest level, are very scarce in developing countries. This is what makes a high quality training lab in Rwanda all the more remarkable. In it there are medical dummies and prosthetics which enable people to train on them to perfect their medical techniques. Learning how to turn a breach baby, apply a suction ventouse to a baby´s head if it becomes obstructed in labour are some of the important techniques which are taught. In this film, we will show how the training lab works and how it can be replicated in other developing countries. One of our founders, Professor Eric Jauniaux would like to take an experienced film crew to film the lab in action. It is estimated the film will cost £12,500 to make and edit. Can you help?

How to manage maternal bleeding

The most common cause of maternal death is bleeding, which can kill even a healthy woman within two hours. Proper delivery care is critical to the survival of mothers who experience haemorrhaging. Our animation will take birth attendants through the essential steps of prevention and treatment.
